Braking Systems

This system is the most important one in vehicles systems.

The primary funchtion of this sytem is to decerease the speed at which it is travelling

These are the components which make up the braking system; pedal, pedal box, brake pressure sensor, light, pushrod, servo, master cylinder, reservoir, pipe(s), fluid, calliper, calliper pistons/seals, bell, and the disc(s).

So the main function of this system is help a car decelerate. To try and explain the main componenst how work and are they used in race car specs or only only in road specs.

In the normal car you will find all the components listed above. The race car has the same parts listed above but in larger specs.

The normal cars have small break disks and smaller calipers because they are ordinary cars and they are not intended to be raced. The normal vehicle has a servo pump but the race car doesnt because drivers want greater feeling of the brake pedal so they can have more behaviour response from the car. The normal car when you apply alot of breaks they tend to wearout faster and make your brake pedal harder to press because the dont have the cooling characteristics of the race brake system.

The race car has first a bigger set of break discs and a big set of calipers. This allows them to stop faster and have less heat generated. The discs on a race car a mostly made from some kind of ceramic compound and are vented and drilled. The brake pads are also from a different material wich wont heat up so fast like the normal ones wich u can find on a normal car. And the last thing is the big callipers which allow for massive break force to be applied when pressing the brake pedal. On of the most important things is the break oil. On the normal cars you can change it with the manufacturers one but on the race car u have to put only high performance oil. The main concern is that the high performance one doesnt wear out fast and is durable to heat.

Last i will mention as in all vehicle systems there are alot of maths involved. The energies wich appear in the brake system are two: kinetic energy wich is converted when the car is in motion into heat energy when brakes are used.
