How materials react when under load

Today we had a lesson on High Performance Material wich covered four areas that we have to consider when making some kind of an object on chosing the right materials. The four areas are: hardnes, elastic defirmation, toughnness and ductility. The class we had covered in great dept how crutial are chosing the right materials.
